This entry was created by my students (aged 10 - 14) at our institute!
When teaching my Unity3D students, I like to give them a whole bunch of 3D resources (characters, props, environments) and let their imaginations run wild on what ideas they want to do. This often prompts discussions in class about strange and interesting ideas for potential games!
They were tasked with creating a tech demo for a game and a single level. After much brainstorming, they decided to recreate the popular mobile game "Hungry Shark" in 3D!
I animated the shark and created the water effects for them, but the rest of the game was made by them!

Setting the Scene
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To begin, my students and I first created a simple "fish tank" where we nailed down all of the functionality before jumping into the design.
The students used a very simple movement and camera script that was taught to them in previous classes.
While they did that, I was preparing some fun visuals for the students.
I animated the shark 3D model so its sail swooshed around as it swam.
I also used ShaderLab coding to create a simple animated water texture for them to use
Once they finished, they could plop their shark into the water and have it swim around their little tank!
We then used a 3D model pack to design the beach and ocean segments. We added a simple AI for the people to randomly roam around a given area and programmed a simple "eat" mechanic for the shark!
